“Ngangk Kemp – Feel good inside your heart” How I was before, I smoke and drank and went to jail and a boys home when I was 13. One time I drink too much and get into a fight, I got arrested. They took the kids for two years. They took me to Douglas House for rehabilitation so I can end family violence and substance abuse. When I got back to Aurukun, I got parole for 11 months. During that time, my partner and I got a job at the Wellbeing Centre and stayed with the program. And that is how we got the kids back. I feel safe and I have changed a lot. I have never left so good. I do counselling and volunteering for my community. Its never too late to change. I tell my kids not to do what I did, if you do you are not only hurting someone else, you are hurting yourself”
