“What I’d like to tell white Australia:
I was basically raised as a white myself, but always wondered who I really was. It wasn’t till I was 35, I met my biological mother and I was around 42- 43 when I met my father. I had no real understanding of the way of Aboriginal family and community. I’m now aware through my Aboriginal family that community and Kinship was a lot stronger than I was lead to believe. Respect for our Elders is paramount compared to what I have seen elsewhere. These two traits are what I believe to be. What I’d like to tell white Australia about: Be proud of our culture and take something away from it. Cherish our old ways and take the time out to discover our culture properly and then see what your opinion is.”
